Gas pipeline

[edit]

I think that this article is about oil pipeline. If there are plansfor gas pipeline, please create separate article. So far, there is no source confirming Burma-China gas pipeline. Beagel (talk) 18:31, 18 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Notwithstanding what Bloomberg says, there is no such thing as an oil-and-gas pipeline. Oil pipelines are oil pipelines and gas pipelines are gas pipelines. Therefore, both pipelines need separate articles. Beagel (talk) 18:37, 18 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Your suggestion also works too. I just wanted a combined article on both the oil and natural gas pipelines in this instance because they will be built alongside each other under the same one project (possibly same route), not separate projects. Heilme (talk) 17:20, 19 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I search for information and both pipelines have their own history. The oil pipeline is foreseen for the Middle-East oil transit to China, while gas pipeline will be supplied from the Burmese offshore Shwe gas field . Don't have enough time right now, but I will try to add more information during the weekend. I will accept keeping both pipelines in the same article (at least for now), but I propose to use the name Sino-Burma pipelines.Beagel (talk) 17:31, 19 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have no problems with your proposal on using the new name - Sino-Burma pipelines. You are right that the gas pipeline will be eventually filled with natural gas from the Burmese Shwe field. However, the oil pipeline can serve more than just one use as merely a transit route for Middle-East oil into China. In fact, Chinese oil companies such as CNOOC are exploring in very early stages for oil (in addition to gas) in Ramree Island off the Western coast of Burma - Asia Times link. Ramree island is located close to Sittwe and Kyaukphyu - all located in the Arakan/Rakhine province of Burma. Heilme (talk) 18:37, 19 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have just done the Page Move and changed all the links that used to connect to the old title name. Heilme (talk) 18:36, 20 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Myanma Oil and Gas Enterprise

[edit]

The correct name of this company is Myanma Oil and Gas Enterprise and NOT Myanmar Oil and Gas Enterprise. It is also confirmed by the website of the MInistry of Energy [1] It was linked for purpose as I think this company needs its own article and I plan to create it. The human rights abuses and geopolitical controversies

[edit]

The article lacks a section on the major human rights abuses, environmental issues, and China-Myanmar controversies that surround the project. There is also war activity going on at the moment on the propose route through Shan State's Kachin regions, between the Myanmar Army and the Kachin Independence Army.
